JOB TITLE: Academic Development Officer
DEPARTMENT: Centre for Academic Development (CAD)
REPORTS TO: Director of CAD

PURPOSE: The Academic Development Officer will support the Centre for Academic Development (CAD) in designing, implementing, and evaluating professional development programmes for academic staff at WIUT. This role involves fostering a culture of excellence in teaching, learning, and research by coordinating training sessions, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and ensuring alignment with WIUT’s strategic objectives
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assist in planning and organising professional development programmes, including workshops, learning and teaching symposiums, seminars, and training sessions for academic staff.
- Coordinate logistics for CPD events, including scheduling, communication, and resource allocation.
- Support the delivery of training programmes focused on innovative teaching practices, research development, and leadership.
- Collaborate with academic staff to identify professional development needs through surveys, focus groups, and feedback mechanisms.
- Provide guidance and support to academic staff participating in CPD activities.
- Facilitate the onboarding and orientation of new academic staff through tailored training programmes, such as "Teaching at WIUT."
- Develop and maintain a repository of teaching and learning resources, including toolkits, recorded sessions, and articles.
- Work with the Digital Learning Coordinator to ensure effective integration of digital tools in CPD initiatives.
- Contribute to the creation and dissemination of best practices in pedagogy and academic leadership.
- Assist in collecting and analysing data from CPD activities to assess their impact on teaching and learning outcomes.
- Gather feedback from participants to identify areas for improvement and inform future programme development.
- Prepare reports on the effectiveness of professional development initiatives for internal stakeholders.
- Represent CAD in meetings and events to promote its mission and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree
- English language proficiency to a level equivalent to an academic staff member
- Proficiency in Uzbek and/or Russian
EXPERIENCE
- Evidence of work experience in administrative positions
- Experience in working with people and dealing with their needs
- Experience with higher education institutions or similar organizations
