Job Summary:
Power Systems and Renewable Energy Integration Expert to lead the technical planning and execution of integrating renewable energy sources into Uzbekistan’s power grid. The role focuses on ensuring the seamless integration of large-scale renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) with the existing power systems. This expert will be responsible for developing grid automation strategies, optimizing the power system’s operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards for renewable integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Renewable Energy Integration: Lead the technical planning and design for the integration of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and BESS into the national power grid.
- Grid Automation: Develop and implement strategies for grid modernization, automation, and smart grid technologies to improve the efficiency and reliability of the power network in accommodating renewable energy.
- Interconnection Studies: Conduct interconnection feasibility studies, load flow analysis, and stability assessments to ensure that renewable energy projects meet the grid’s technical requirements.
- Policy and Regulatory Development: Collaborate with policy teams to draft technical standards, codes, and regulatory frameworks for renewable energy integration and power system operation.
- System Upgrades and Optimization: Propose and oversee transmission and distribution network upgrades needed to accommodate increasing levels of renewable energy, while maintaining grid stability and reliability.
- Energy Forecasting and Balancing: Implement forecasting tools and models to predict renewable energy generation and demand, ensuring grid stability through effective energy balancing strategies.
- Ancillary Services: Design and recommend ancillary services such as frequency regulation, voltage control, and reserve capacity to manage variability in renewable energy generation.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with government agencies, private sector developers, and utilities to facilitate renewable energy project development and grid integration.
- Project Management: Manage renewable energy integration projects from concept through to implementation, including budget management, scheduling, and coordination with stakeholders.
- Technical Training and Capacity Building: Provide technical training and workshops for government officials and power system operators on renewable energy integration, grid management, and advanced power systems technologies.
- Research and Innovation: Stay updated on global trends and advancements in power systems, grid integration, and renewable technologies. Propose innovative solutions to enhance Uzbekistan’s renewable energy capacity.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering, renewable energy integration, grid management, and transmission network planning.
- Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale renewable energy projects and their integration into existing power grids.
- Knowledge of grid automation technologies, smart grids, and ancillary services.
- Languages:
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
- Proficiency in Russian (written and spoken) is required.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in power systems analysis, including load flow studies, dynamic simulations, and renewable energy forecasting.
- Proficiency in power system simulation tools such as PSS/E, DigSILENT PowerFactory, or similar.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, BESS) and their technical requirements for grid integration.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address power system challenges related to renewable energy integration.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders, both locally and internationally.
- Project management skills with experience in coordinating cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with transmission system operators (TSOs) or distribution system operators (DSOs) on renewable energy integration projects.
- Familiarity with Uzbekistan’s energy policy landscape and grid infrastructure.
- Experience in smart grid technologies and advanced power systems.
