Astana International Exchange (AIX) is a core part of the AIFC as the regional platform which attracts financial inflows, including within the “Belt and Road” Initiative.

AIX Belt and Road Market is the special market segment under AIX to serve the high demand of regional projects to target liquidity from overseas market within the framework of “Belt and Road” initiative by promoting capital market solutions to attract liquidity from China (including Hong Kong) to AIX market to participate in Public Equity and Fixed Income market, as well as Secondary market. The AIX BRM ecosystem is a core ecosystem to support the “Belt and Road” Construction in Kazakhstan and the Central Asia, which will support AIX become regional investment and financing hub for BRI and a successful corporative sample between Kazakhstan and China in financial area.

The associate of Belt and Road Market is expected to lead the overall Belt and Road Market development within AIX, who also needs to take full advantage of the cooperation, strategic partnership and synergy between AIX and Belt and Road Market related stakeholders, strategic partners, AIFC internal divisions and relevant authorities within Kazakhstan to improve the attractiveness of AIX market to better support “Belt and Road” projects financing via capital market in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

Role/ Job Purpose:

  • Associate role to lead the overall development of AIX Belt and Road Market.
  • Act as a linkage between AIX and BRI related stakeholders to further promote the collaboration.
  • Attract the liquidity from China (including Hong Kong) to AIX Market.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Take full responsible for the Belt and Road Market department and lead the tasks. Make sure the Belt and Road Segment in the right direction in line with the overall development of AIX as the key differentiator.
  • Conduct deep research on the Belt and Road Initiative and Kazakhstan’s new economic policy, including Kazakhstan-China relationship, on the connection and synergy between these two initiatives and countries particularly.
  • Develop the specific products for Belt and Road Market Segment, RMB (Chinese Currency) denominated products particularly.
  • Develop comprehensive and feasible assessment mechanism on how to identify investable projects related to the Belt and Road Initiative.
  • Identify the potential issuers and investors of the Belt and Road Market segment and promote the segment.
  • Identify the synergy between BRI related stakeholders such as SSE, SRF and etc. to support the Belt and Road Initiative and take fully advantage to improve the attractiveness of AIX market and attract liquidity from China (including Hong Kong.)
  • Support the day-to-day communication within internal and external collaborations on behalf of the department.
  • Support the potential regional issuers in terms of listing on AIX BRM.
  • Support the other departments of AIX and internal divisions of AIFC in terms of BRI related issues.
  • Draft and update high quality documentation, including reports, monthly newsletters, presentations, internal approval documents etc., as, and when required and on a timely basis.
  • Coordinate the promotional events by cooperating with relevant department within AIFC, AIX and any other organizations.

Qualification & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or relevant fields is required. Master’s degree preferred or equivalent, an MBA would be preferable.
  • At least 5 years relevant working experience in financial fields.
  • Proficiency in Kazakh, Russian, English and Chinese (both spoken and written). Understanding Kazakh and Chinese culture.

Required Competences and Skills:

  • Deep understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative and Kazakhstan’s New Economic Policies, including the opportunities and challenges, Kazakhstan-China relations and regional geopolitics.
  • Good understandings of the capital markets and overall stock exchange business chain.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
